Who We Help
Molar Express Minnesota will travel to
site partners throughout the 7-county metro area and provide comprehensive
dental services to low-income children.
Did You Know?
- There are 139,833 low-income children living
in the 7-county metro area.
- 29% of all school-age children in the 7-county
metro area qualify as low-income.
- 52% of low-income children with public insurance
6-9 years old have not seen a dentist in the past year.
- Of eligible children, ages 6-14, enrolled
in Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, 46% have not received
dental services.
- Dental sealants prevent cavities on molars.
Of eligible children enrolled in Medicaid and MinnesotaCare, 88%
have not received dental sealants.
- Dental health and overall health are intricately
linked. Children with tooth decay become self-conscious, are unable
to concentrate in school, and miss more school days. They can
have trouble chewing, suffer from poor nutrition, and their cognitive
development may be impaired.
Low-income parents face numerous barriers of
access and cost that prevent them from taking their children to
a neighborhood dentist. Molar Express Minnesota eliminates those
barriers by going directly to the communities where children live
and go to school.
Molar Express Minnesota will create healthy smiles
for 2,000 children every year. |
